The report of the July Environmental Visual Audit has been posted to the EVA page:

Tuesday 14 July 2009 (PDF, 64 kB)

Each month, members of the Katesgrove NAG tour an area of Katesgrove with officers from Reading Borough Council, usually accompanied by one or more of our PCSOs and our Neighbourhood Wardens, looking for anything that brings the appearance of an area down. You can read more about this process and how it helps the area by clicking here.

The latest police update for the Katesgrove Neighbourhood has been posted to the Thames Valley Police website:

Update for July

Tackling drug dealing and use is one of the priorities set by the residents of the Katesgrove neighbourhood. This was raised following concerns that needles and discarded deal bags have been found in the area.

One of the areas of concern was the bushes by the public toilets in Whitley Street. This area was cleared and the bushes removed a couple of months ago. Since this has occurred the team has received no reports of discarded needles or associated paraphernalia in this area.

Our neighbourhood PCSOs will readily issue penalty notices to untaxed vehicles they find on the highway during patrols, but you can also report untaxed vehicles directly to the DVLA.

The vehicle must be parked in a specific location on a regular basis, so that an Agency Inquiry Officer will be able to make a sighting of the vehicle and then complete a formal witness statement.

DVLA If you know of an untaxed vehicle that can be regularly seen in a particular place, visit the DVLA website to file a report:
http://dvla.gov.uk/onlineservices/report_unlicensed.aspx

You will need to know the registration number of the vehicle, and knowing the make, model, and colour will help. It is also very helpful if you know the postcode of the street - you can look this up on the Royal Mail website: http://postcode.royalmail.com/
